Summer Days

Well we are officially 42 days away from what promises to be that best part of my summer, possibly the best part of college. What exactly have I done to prepare since my last post? Well not much. I did however get a raincoat, a lovely black trench coat style one that I'm pretty excited about. I'm still not sure exactly what all I need for this trip, besides comfy shoes and the raincoat. I need to figure out what clothes to pack and how to possibly pack light enough for a five week trip. So far I've mostly just been enjoying my summer vacation, well and working.
My favorite thing about summer is the weather, I love nothing more than laying on the beach tanning and reading a book. Or wave jumping and attempting to swim out far enough to hit a sand bar. So far in the two-ish weeks I've been home I have managed to make 2 beach trips and about 12 pool trips, both at night and during the day. So my goal of being the tannest person in London is definitley becoming plausible; especially if we continue the weekly beach trips.
I've also been working at Studio Movie Grill again this summer, upside to that is free movies and something to do; downside is dealing with stupid people. There is a man we call the cheese guy who comes into work and orders lots of cheese. He used to walk around yelling "cheese" in the halls and asking people about cheese but one of our managers finally chewed him out for it. This guy and his friend complain every single time they come to the movies, they always yell at the servers and are totally rude all the time. They also barely tip, or only tip if they really like you (they used to never tip but a manager chewed them out about being rude all the time). I personally think they just want free stuff, I mean if you really had issues that many times at a place you just wouldn't come back. I think our managers know this too. People in general are just stupid, they don't understand why it takes time to cook their food in a sold out movie, or why there isn't someone to cater to their every whim. It's a fun job though and it gives me a lot of entertaining stories.
The other fun thing happening this summer is Howl at the Moon, a place we have discovered thanks to my friend Scott. It's a piano bar where these two guys and a girl play requests and make up stupid songs. They also have silly contests to win free drinks, and they are all really talented. It's very entertaining and fun and has become a Wednesday tradition.

55 Days!

That's it, only 55 more days until I leave for London!!
Can't freaking wait, but I feel like I have so much to do before then. I don't even know what to pack, or how I'm going to pack light when I'm going to be somewhere for five weeks. I'm a terrible over packer, mostly because I like to give myself choices in clothing. So packing for a five week trip to a different country is going to be interesting. I do know that I'm getting a raincoat though so that's kind of awesome. I also already have my textbook, which actually looks really interesting and could be something on my summer reading list for fun haha.
Well it's finally summer vacation, I've been done with the hardest semester ever since Saturday. Still don't have all my grades which is kind of frustrating but mostly I'm just happy the semester is over. Summer means Houston, reading books, and working at Studio again, but only for a month and a half and I get to watch free movies. So it'll be a short summer here in Texas. Really what I would like to do is spend as much time at the beach or pool as possible, and hang out with my friends. So far seeing my friends is working out well. I came home Tuesday, went out to eat that night and hung out with Bethany, Jason, Bobby and a few of Bobby's friends. We also checked out the supposedly haunted Patterson road. Last night we went to a really cool bar downtown called Howl at the Moon. They have a group of guys who play piano, guitar, drums, etc and you can request songs and they make up really entertaining lyrics. They also have a mirrored wall and you can pay to write whatever you want on the wall. It was a lot of fun, and a place I'd go again. It might become a weekly tradition.

As wonderful as summer is saying goodbye to Waco gets harder every year. My house there becomes more like home and my friends there more like family. This year was especially sad because I won't see my graduating friends, like Brooke and Laura, again next year. Hopefully we can all have some reunion visit at some point, maybe in Michigan where Brooke will be. I'm also going to miss my roommates, we will all be in different states (or countries) for most of the summer. So before we all left we had a really fun photo shoot afternoon, with Brooke's dad as the photographer and the pictures turned out really cute.

Foster Kittens > Finals

It's finals week here at old BU, which means lots of coffee, staying up late, attempting to memorize an entire semesters worth of material in a few days, and in my house kittens! So no this post will not be about final exams, I'm trying to forget those are even happening. One was today, two tomorrow, and one Saturday. Ughh.
But anyway, yesterday the humane society emailed out pictures of cute little kittens that needed foster homes so i convinced Emily that we really needed some kittens in our lives. So we drove over to the humane society and picked out two little babies from the twelve they had. They are so cute! We named the orange one Lacedarius and the b/w one Bon Qui Qui so they will grow up into little gangstas.
